I found this in one of the blogs that I was reading. I think is really interesting how abstract images are created from architecture and photography.

Description:
Countless fragments of existing architectural photography are merged into multilayered shapes. The resulting collages introduce a third abstract point of view next to the original ones of architect and photographer.

Digital scans of analogue architectural photography form tiny pieces of a large resulting puzzle. The original pictures are being analysed and categorised according to their vanishing-points and shapes. Based on this analysis, slices are being extracted from the source image. These slices retain the information of their position corresponding to their original vanishing-point and thus form a large pool of pieces, ready to be applied to new perspectives and shapes.

Using the extracted image segments, it is now possible to form collages of originally different pictures with a new common perspective. In order to compose a collage, a perspective-grid is defined and a lining of matching image segments is being applied. The segments are not altered to match the frame but fitting ones are chosen from the sheer mass of possible pieces. By defining additional keywords which describe the content of the original photographs, the selection of segments used for the final composition can be influenced. Thus a contextual layer is added through the semantic linking with the source material.
The recompositions mix and match the views and perspectives of both the architect and the photographer with a third, newly chosen frame. The resulting fine-art prints are entirely unique each time.

John Baldessari: Pure Beauty

JOHN BALDESSARI: PURE BEAUTY

The Pure Beauty exhibition brought together more than 150 artworks of Baldessari artist's career from 1962 to the present day. It chronologically intention was to portrait the early works of Baldessari and the shifts between media in his works.

For over fifty years, Baldessari has created thousands of works that demonstrate the descriptive ability of images and power of language. Baldessari's interest in language, both written and visual, raises important questions about the nature of communication and its interpretation. Baldesarri’s text and image paintings from the mid-1960s are widely recognized as among the earliest examples of conceptual art, he began to develop his painting style incorporating letters, words and photographs in his works. Later on, he was using photographs and text, or simply text on canvas.

                            

“Six Colorful Inside Jobs.” It is a 16mm film on tape that is seen from a bird's eye perspective where an individual paints the walls and floor of a windowless room six times in six days, using each of the primary and secondary colors. The video is fast-forward to show the finished project of each day. This performance art piece is strongly visually interesting and invites the viewer to enjoy the accomplishment of the completion of the work.

His life’s work has been about creating art that communicates to people in a language they understand and that was the intention of the retrospective exhibit. To help viewers understand and admired what he had created so far. Baldessari is often credited with helping to make Los Angeles an internationally recognized center of contemporary art. 

Nan Goldin's Work

Nan Goldin's first solo show was held in Boston in 1973. It was based on her photographic journeys among the city's gay and transsexual communities, to which she had been introduced by her friend David Armstrong.


“Our designs exist to reflect the integrity of a woman and resonate her unique individualism” says Gary Theodore, one half of the designer duo that makes up Australian (Melbourne) label Scanlan and Theodore, which led the pair to collaborate with model Erin Wasson and counter-culture photographer Nan Goldin f0r the breezy new spring/summer look book.


Goldin, best known for documenting the post-punk new wave music and transgender scene of the 70s and 80s, shot Wasson in a ramshackled mansion in New York State, and the distressed walls and shabby-chic furniture compliments the label’s grunge-glamorous evening wear.

The Advantages of Being a Woman Artist by Guerrilla Girls

Guerrilla Girls is an anonymous group of radical feminist artists established in New York City in 1985. Known for their posters, books, billboards, appearances and other creative forms of culture jamming, the group aims to expose discrimination and corruption.

Trained as visual artists, Guerrilla Girls have invented a unique combination of content, text and snappy graphics that present feminist viewpoints in a humorous manner. They try to draw in viewers with their comic hook, help them to think about the issues, and encourage them to change their minds.

Guerrilla Girls want to reclaim the “F word" (feminism). They want people to embrace the tenets of feminism, which include equal opportunity, the end of gender-based discrimination, equal access to education, freedom from sexual exploitation and abuse, reproductive rights education, and human rights for women everywhere.

They are famous for wearing gorilla masks in public and taking the names of deceased female artists as pseudonym
